Sometimes I want to take a doodle a little farther, but still maintain the essence of the doodle process. This involves creating without planning. Painting on scrap wood helps me to not be "too precious" about it and, instead, let go. Then I can watch the images unfold and be surprised by the outcome!

The Third Body

For a little while, this beautiful little spirit started to manifest physically in my belly. It was a joyful time for my partner and I. We couldn't wait to meet this little spirit.

Sadly, the spirit decided this was not the right time to be born. Miscarriage is a painful, traumatic and shocking experience. It is not talked about enough. I had no idea what that process is like and wish that more people spoke of it so it wouldn't have to be such a scary journey.

The physical third body has now transitioned back to a spiritual third body. We feel her presence around us every day.

Creation Process

The process of this piece reflected the concept! Initially, I did a doodle in which I was thinking about the creative fire - how so much color and life comes out of that passionate space. As I painted, the fire turned into more of a lotus flower and the beginnings of new life emerged.

Matilda's Magical World

This little painting was inspired by 4 year-old Matilda who said, "I will always live in the magic world. That is the proper way to be in this life." She is an inspiration indeed!

I was thinking about how easy it is to get sucked out of the magic of life. And then I was thinking about how one finds their way back to the magic when they have lost their way.

For me, it is through the heart. I find a way to connect there and listen and suddenly I am once again in the beauty and magic of this world.

River of Life

This painting evolved from a doodle I drew while contemplating the baby that was growing in my belly.

It was such a joy to host that little ball of light! Never have I felt so in flow and so in awe of life. I was 7 weeks pregnant and already totally in love.

The Distance

Just a little seed. I'm in awe of the distance it must cross to become alive in the light of the world. It is a mystical journey, written on the stars, filled with mystery and possibility and wonder.
